Education

1986 – 88 Steve Prins, Prins - Wait  Studios, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Formative apprenticeship in painting conservation included working on mural projects.

1984 - 85 Kip Farris Designer. Mixed media constructions and the construction of displays.

1983 Bachelors of Art, Metropolitan State College, Denver, CO. Emphasis on drawing and painting.

1981 - 82 Dumonde Gallery, Denver, CO. Position as art director, exhibits designer and coordinator, installations.

1981 - 82 Western Paintings Conservation, Denver, CO Apprenticeship in painting conservation under the direction of Carl Grimm

1980 – 81 The Rocky Mountain Regional Conservation Center, Denver, CO. Internship in painting conservation, art technician.

Professional History

1997 - 99 Steven Prins and Company in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Assistant Conservator working in all areas of in lab treatments and on site special projects.  

1996 - 97 John Andolsek Conservation and Restoration of Fine Paintings. Assistant conservator working in all areas of treatment on in lab projects.  

1988 – 91 Landis Smith, Conservator. Santa Fe, NM. Assistant conservator working with ethnographic and archaeological objects. All aspects of conservation treatments were performed.

1976 – 96 Professional artist in many mediums with emphasis on painting and drawing. Numerous exhibitions.

Special Projects

Aug 1999 to Dec 1999 Kimo Theater, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Worked as Conservator and Project Manager for contract through Kronkright Center  for Cultural Materials, Inc. The project included the supervision of other conservators, assistants and technicians in the conservation of plaster reliefs and painted surfaces. Treatments included overpaint removal, cleaning, smoke damage, fills, inpaint, varnishing. Duties also included administration of the on site work and documentation.

1999 School of American Research, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mural conservation project contracted with Steven Prins and Company. On site conservation services incl. flattening of rolled canvas, cleaning, remounting.

1999 Four large paintings done in lab at Steven Prins and Company for Bishop’s Lodge, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Conservation services included cleaning (incl.overpaint removal), consolidation, filling, inpainting, varnish.
