Professional Education

1979 - 1982: Three year art conservation program at Lombardy regional conservation center, Ente Nazionale A.C.L.I. Istruzione Professionale, in Botticino (Brescia), Italy. Program recognized and supported by the Istituto Centrale del Restauro (ICR) in Rome. This was a painting conservation program. A specialization was obtained in mural conservation (affresco, a secco, oil marouflauge).

1982 – 1883 Postgraduate internship with conservators Romeo Seccamani and Gianfranco Mingardi in Brescia, Italy. Worked on numerous in lab and on site mural projects

Professional Experience

1999 Pescadero Trust, Pebble Beach California, USA. 1000 sq. ft murals, oil on fabric with gilding and attachments. Work included cleaning, lining, filling, inpainting, varnish. Work performed under contract with FACL, Inc. directed by Scott M. Haskins of Santa Barbara, CA USA.

1997 Castle of Blois, France. XIX century murals in oil on plaster

1996 Mura, Corsica, France. Stucco reliefs in the towns main church. XVIII century

1996 Manerba, Brescia, Italy. Affrescoes in the city’s castle. XVI century

1995 Le Puy, France. Affrescoes in the city’s cathedral. XI century

1995 Bedonia, Perugia, Italy. Bishop’s Seminary and Church. Several large oils on canvas, XVII century

1994 Santa Barbara, CA, USA. Worked on the Spanish Colonial collection of the Mission Inn, Riverside CA. Under contract and the direction of Scott M. Haskins of Fine Art Conservation Laboratories.

1993 Los Angeles, CA USA. Ceiling murals at UCLA done in 1930’s, oil on plaster 3000 sq. ft. Treatments included consolidation, cleaning, fills and reconstruction of missing areas, inpainting and repainting of missing details, varnish. Work performed under the direction of Scott M. Haskins under contract with Fine Art Conservation Laboratories of Santa Barbara, CA, USA

1992 Santa Barbara, CA, USA Fine Art Conservation Laboratories summer workshop on XIX and XX century art on canvas

1990 – 1991 Milano, Italy. Church of St. Angela of the Minor Friars. Major affresco cycle in the apse of XVII century works by Procaccini, Barabino, Mancalva. Work included supervision of other conservators in cleaning, plaster structural repairs, fills, inpainting and surface coatings.

1988 – 1989 Cadignano, Brescia, Italy. Palazzo Maggi. Affresco cycle by Gambara and Campi brothers. XVI century

1987 – 1988 Brescia Italy. Work performed for the City of Brescia on affrescoed friezes

1985 –1986 Brescia, Italy. Palazzo of the Bishop. Afferescoes from XV – XVII centuries.

1985 Brescia, Italy. Church of S. Zenone. Affrescoes XV century. Work performed for the Sopintendenza of Brescia, Mantova and Cremona

1983 – 1984 Mantova, Italy. Royal Palace, Castiglione delle Stiviere. Major affresco cycle of XV – XVII centuries. Work performed for the Sopintendenza.

Numerous other treatments on murals and in lab, were performed each year. This listing is of the most notable projects and experiences.
